My good friend Julie is coming to visit from Philly. I'm am so excited. I'm picking her up on Wed night and taking her to the airport on Sat morning. We're going hiking and possibly kayaking on Mt Rainier on Thursday and then go into Seattle and do some sightseeing on Friday. The best part is that this weekend is also CoffeeFest here in Seattle. So, what's more Seattle than Coffee? There will be hundreds of people in the coffee business for the annual trade show. My bubble tea supplies will have a booth there so they got me some free tickets. The reason I'm going, besides all the FREE coffee and foods associated with coffe, is that I am seriously thinking of going into the coffee business. I know, I know, I used to be stonchly against coffee. But I realized that in the NW, you really have to serve coffee in any food/beverage business. So, I would have to sell bubble tea AND coffee. So, that's why I'm going and looking forward to learning more about the coffee busines. Julie is just excited I'm taking her along for all the free coffee. :)

Good News # 2: Julie and CoffeeFest

Good News #1: Google
I have google ads!! See them on the right side of the column? Give them a try! I'm pretty excited to be apart of the Internet free enterprise. A true entrepreneur through and through. :)
Bad News # 3: Our cook quit
We have had a crazy couple of week here. Not only did our cook helper, sweet 20 year old Marc, moved on to a new job as a forklift operator, but our main cook expeditor, Mr Bae, walked out on us one night after getting angry at the new cook helper who replaced Marc. Ok, so our new cook helper was REALLY bad, even for a guy in training, but I think Mr Bae must have had a lot of pent up dissatisfaction at the WOK. He put down the key to our restaurant and walked out, he's been here for years. Well, we still have Sam, our chinese food wok specialist. He is amazing. We have customers that come in and ask for things that are not even on the menu like Lemon Chicken (a pretty common chinese dish but one we don't carry.) We'll just ask Sam if he can make it and he says, "Sure." He goes in to the walk in frig and gets a lemon and whips up some lemon chicken. He makes every dish to order from stratch. He even scrambles one egg in the wok for each order of fried rice. What a guy! So, our whole family has been working overtime to train all these new workers. Even today, we have a new cook helper. It's like a revolving door around here.
Bad News #2 : High Cholesterol
Can you believe I have High Cholesterol at my age? I was just diagnosed last week to my surprise. I guess I have been eating more fried foods while working here at the WOK. I also eat alot of ice cream. My doctor recommend I try a over the counter suppliment called Niacin. She did mention that a side affect is feeling a bit flushed. Well, I took my 1000mg of Niacin and before I knew it, my coworkers were asking if I were drunk! :) My face was SO red that I looked like I was on fire. Then, it started spreading to my arms. I started itching all over my body. Well, there goes that remedy for my cholesterol. I guess I'm gonna just have to deal with it thru my diet. If you know me, you know that's very hard. I hate being restricted in what I eat, especially ice cream. :)
Bad News # 1 : Tent Recall
This summer, after much search and excitement, I bought my first tent. Of course it wasn't a ultra lightweight hiking tent since I'm not a big hiker. But was the extremely cool "2 Second Tent". It literally Pops open and you have a pitched tent in 2 second. This tent won the 2006 Product IDEA award. So, I got one and I had only used it ONCE when I got the notice last week that my tent was RECALLED! So sad. I am tempted to ignore the recall and just keep my tent but the reason it was recalled is that it didn't pass the fire resistence test. That would be BAD in a camping situation with an open campfire. So, alas I will have to send it back for a full refund and $10 extra dollars for my trouble. The saddest thing is that there is no other product like this on the market and because of the oversight of using a nonflame resistant material, this company has to recall 22,000 tents and close all of their stores and factories. Sad.

Ad Campaign
I'm launching a spectacular, full force, advertisement campaign. I've retained a top Seattle ad agency and hired a couple of professional photograhers who are the best in their business. I am creating a mass marketing strategy to turn all Bonney Lake residents into Bubble Tea Drinkers! I am gonna take over South King County!!!! Arhrhhhrhrh [Evil laugh]. Just kidding. This is just a picture of my designer Carolyn, and our buddy Michael. They both have day jobs but are also amazing photograhers. Michael is doing the photoshoot of my Bubble Tea for whatever print work we will need in the future. The most current project is a menu board. All this time, I've only had color laminated paper menus. Now that I've been in business for awhile and know which BT flavors I'm gonna stick with and which ones I'm going to phase out, I am putting up a real menu boards. I'm looking forward to seeing the proof that Carolyn is creating even now. I'm sure it'll look awesome.
